Its value depends on the inbound mix, the way staff present material, the sorting decision and the evidence required at handover.

Map the line before choosing machinery

Document who unloads material, how batches are identified, which formats are excluded and where accepted and rejected material goes. Measure the available work area, operator circulation, utility access and downstream container route. Specify a throughput target only with the material mix and test method that will be used to verify it; a single headline rate would conceal the difficult cases.

Keep the batch record reconcilable

Define when a batch starts and ends, who approves corrections and how a physical container is matched to its digital record.
